In my personal opinion, a Search Engine Optimization expert is someone who has proven experience in the toughest markets.  Fortunately for myself, I have proven myself in some of the most competitive fields in the industry.  But it’s not just about that.  Staying on top of the new constantly changing algorithm’s and learning about new technologies is essential to staying at the top of your game in this business.  Furthermore, the only real SEO Experts, are those who can do it ethically without getting your website banned or sandboxed on Google.  Don’t be fooled by people who offer instant rewards.  Although your site may be preforming now in a short amount of time Google will update their algorithm and your efforts will have all been in vain.  A true SEO specialist is well versed in organic search engine optimization, Google and Local Places SEO, Social Media, as well as other sides of the business that do not normally come up in conversation.  Additionally, a true SEO Expert will not just care about the paycheck and the hits, but the conversions that your website is generating.
